The reason that we are requesting the press to assist in this is because Ozilite would like to draw more attention to some of the safety equipment available for prevention of oil fires, oil spills and other oil related accidents. Safe oil platform operations, pipeline maintenance, oil transportation protocol and safe oil drilling practices combined with the reduction of high risk behavior has been shown to greatly reduce the number of oil spills, oil fires, and injuries on the job site.
The environment and the countless lives affected due to oil spills is not completely preventable, but it can be reduced significantly by promoting safety precautions combined with creating a safe work environment. What can we do to increase the safety in the drilling, refining, and transportation of crude oil? There are many standard’s in place. The EPA, for example, implemented the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan in order to have protocol in place for when accidents occur and focus on prevention.
We feel that the answer is education. Although the Ozilite Flameless Lighter can not prevent spills caused by transportation of crude oil, Ozilite does prevent many accidents each year by eliminating fires caused by an open flame in environments where flammable materials are produced, transported, or used regularly.
