The ApBeacon platform facilitates more meaningful dialogue between organizations and their audiences, while at the same time generating powerful social data and analytics. Our solutions use our local positioning beacons to create a self-contained, reliable network. Combined with our powerful software and mobile APIs, the ApBeacon platform enables custom tailored communications to individuals based on real-time local positioning data.
The system uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology to determine the precise location of mobile devices within reach of an ApBeacon. ApBeacons are intended to be deployed as a network, allowing mobile applications to triangulate their local position to a high degree of accuracy.
Bluetooth Low Energy is quickly becoming the standard for inter-device communications, thanks to its excellent energy to gain ratio. BLE is an eight-year-old wireless communications protocol that dictates the functions of a Bluetooth 4.0 wireless transceiver. While Classic Bluetooth focuses on continuous wireless streaming of data at relatively high speeds, BLE focuses on wireless data transfer while using very little power. Using BLE, ApBeacon devices are able to perform local positioning to within 2 meters or less. It is this level of precise positioning that allows for communications targeted based on the user’s exact location in the environment in conjunction with other datasets.
ApBeacons are compatible with Apple and Android devices. Once permissions have been set by the end user, ApBeacon enabled software pulls local positioning and social media guest information and prompts guests, management and staff with various notifications to facilitate any occasion.
ApBeacon enabled software products can be customized for any public event, or to manage a retail store, restaurant, or workspace. The ApBeacon is currently in its alpha stage of development and brand new use cases are constantly explored.
For example, an event’s ApBeacon integrated software is installed on your mobile device, with an interactive map providing location-based information to your smartphone. The manager of the event marks the appropriate interaction zones, establishing where and when users will receive messages. Offers and notifications to participate in a variety of promotions are sent in real time to your mobile device.
ApBeacon devices, in conjunction with Ap1ication’s EvntBeam software, were successfully alpha-tested at the Evintra Fashion Night at the Ritz Carlton in Toronto. The event took place on March 21st. Guests received a welcome message when they arrived at the event and further messages and calls to action were send to mobile devices as guests approached zones that were set up for key sponsors such as Lotus Cars and Three Olives Vodka .
