Introducing the BIOS Urn – An Ecological Way to Honor and Memorialize a Loved One
Oakland, California (PRWEB) October 28, 2014 -- Death and taxes –– two things every one on the planet can count on. But the culture does little to prepare for the inevitable. According to the Center on Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 2.5 million Americans will die this year.
Cremation is now the fastest growing service offered by the $17 billion funeral industry. The growth is due to the lessening of religious restraints on cremation and the cost savings compared to a traditional funeral, which can sky rocket to $8,000 or higher, not including the cost of a burial plot. Cremation in comparison costs approximately $2,000 (plus the cost of an urn). Urns range from $100 to $2,000, depending on size and materials. Interment with an urn is an option some choose, while others store or scatter a loved one’s ashes.
“Many of us are looking for a more natural way to return to the earth upon death. What if there was a way for a family to honor a loved one for generations to come, while nourishing the planet?” said Lee Richter, CEO of Richter Communications.
Bios Urn USA announces the launch of the Bios Urn, a biodegradable funeral urn designed to turn the ashes of a beloved family member into a living tree. Bios Urn features an internationally patented biodegradable urn made from cellulose and natural fibers. The urn contains a pine tree seed (which can be replaced by a seedling or a plant of choice), to memorialize loved ones, breathing new life into the environment.
How it Works:
The urn is divided into two separate capsules: The upper capsule is a sealed unit to ensure the proper germination of the seed, and the lower capsule is where ashes are stored. The tree grows in the upper compartment until the urn itself begins to decompose. After a period of time, the Bios Urn, including the loved one’s ashes, becomes part of the earth and fertilizer for the new tree. The Bios Urn can be stored for many years until planted, as long as it remains in a dry place.
Bios Urn USA is the exclusive importer and national U.S. distributor for the factory in Spain. Distributors and retail outlet inquiries are welcome at info(at)biosurnusa(dot)com.
