InventHelp Client's Device Provides an Assistance-Free Method for Patients to Drink Water or Other Liquids (OCC-1098)
PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) September 26, 2016 -- There are many patients who are either permanently or temporarily unable to use their hands, so they have to rely on nurses or aides to bring them water and hold a cup to their mouth as they sip. This is not only frustrating for the patients but it's time-consuming for hospital staff since the average person should drink about six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. It is also dangerous for the patient who runs the risk of dehydration.
"We decided to develop an idea that allows for unassisted drinking for such patients," said one of two inventors from Long Beach, Calif.
They then created a prototype of the EZ DRINK LINK, a device that enables a physically challenged patient to drink liquids in a more convenient and independent manner. It eliminates the need for assistance. It also avoids dehydration, frustration and embarrassment, as well as drips. Overall, the device saves time and effort for medical staff and independence for the patient. It's ideal for quadriplegics, double amputees, injury sufferers, elderly people, etc.
The original design was submitted to the Orange County office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
