Inventor and InventHelp Client Develops Limb Irrigation Device (OCM-609)
PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- "Typically, when performing irrigation or debridement, the patient's limb lies flat on a table or is supported by other medical personnel," said an inventor and surgical tech from La Quinta, Calif. "There also is a lot of over-spray while the procedure is performed. To save time and effort and lessen the spillage, I came up with this idea."
She developed the LIMB IRRIGATION PAN (LIP) to provide a more convenient way for a medical professional to perform irrigation or debridement on a patient's injured limb. The device supports the limb so that the medical professional can work more efficiently. The design controls fluid overflow. It also eliminates the need to have other medical personnel hold the limb, freeing them to assist the surgeon.
The invention prevents the sterile field from being jeopardized. It reduces the need to place flannel blankets on the floor to absorb fluids, minimizing the risk of trip-and-fall injuries and enhancing safety for staff. It also allows staff skills to be better utilized. In addition, the unit is producible in disposable and reusable versions.
The original design was submitted to the Orange County office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
