Inventor and InventHelp Client Develops Patient-Care Accessory (CCP-670)
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Hospital patients with an IV catheter often experience difficulty when it comes time to bathe or shower. To help out, an inventor and registered nurse from Gary, Ind., created a prototype for the patent-pending NURSE HELPERS.
The accessory protects an IV catheter and prevents water, bacteria or other contaminants from entering the bloodstream. The invention enables the patient to shower or bathe normally. It also helps the IV catheter to last longer. Also, the device is ideal for patients who need long-term IV medications. The device improves patient satisfaction and comfort. Additionally, it is usable to cover dressings on the hands, arms and legs as well.
The inventor's professional experience inspired the idea. "I saw a need for this in my profession," she said. "When a patient wants to take a bed bath or shower, we nurses have to search for ways to cover and protect the IV catheter. I think that my idea offers a simple, effective solution."
The original design was submitted to the Cincinnati office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
