Last year’s study was recognized as one of the most comprehensive and objective studies ever conducted on the industry. While the 2013 study validated much of the 2012 findings, there were numerous shifts in category leaders and some new names appeared for the first time. Over 10,000 investors participated in the study. It also examines trends in the brokerage industry since the 2008 financial crisis, including changes in competitors, decline in the number of individual investors and increase in regulations.
