IP Technology Labs Awarded Patent Supporting Split-Routing for Internet-of-Things, VPN, and SD-WAN Network Deployments
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) July 12, 2016 -- IP Technology Labs, the leading provider of 4th Generation VPN connectivity, WAN/SD-WAN, and IoT secure networking appliances, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued US Patent #9,391,881 covering a method of automatic and transparent network forwarding connectivity. The proprietary technology fills-in gaps in existing technologies in the way that applications and devices obtain a presence and communicate on a network, and eliminates the need of additional networking services to ensure connectivity.
“IoT and VPN are driving connectivity based networking,” said Scott Whittle, President of IP Technology Labs. “The proliferation of IoT and remote connections demands efficient, deterministic, and low cost connectivity. IpTL has always recognized that the network should serve the application. Now IoT and VPN users don’t have to support bloated and out-of-date routing protocols in order to connect, communicate, and control.”
By modifying LAN based protocols over the WAN, the invention permits connectivity and communications without requiring expensive routers or complex configurations. Additionally, split-routing permits local traffic to egress locally while maintaining end-to-end connectivity for tunnel based applications. This is particularly important for IoT devices which are typically specialized and lack the network stack or processing capabilities of larger full-featured routers and routing protocols.
