iPhone and iPad Rank First in Email Communication Traffic for Apartment Communities
Lehi, UT (PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- Property Solutions, the multifamily industry's open-access Platform as a Service (PaaS) provider, announced 2013 mobile statistics on email communication traffic from apartment communities to current and prospective residents. Currently 45 percent of emails to apartment residents—including leasing offers, rent reminders, community announcements, and maintenance status updates—are viewed by smartphone, up from 30 percent at the end of 2012. Apple’s iPhone and iPad accounted for the largest readership in December 2013 at 31 percent, followed by visitors in Chrome (24 percent) and Internet Explorer (20 percent). Recent jumps in mobile email usage hasten the need for mobile-friendly email design to support user interaction and functionality in all settings.
From January to December, iPhone and iPad viewership grew by 238 percent, overtaking Windows Internet Explorer (IE) from its top spot at the start of 2013. By the end of the year, desktop viewership averaged 55 percent of total traffic, with Google Chrome making up the largest share of desktop browsers. Results were collected through Message Center—Property Solutions’ unified messaging system within Entrata PaaS. Message Center allows companies to set automated communications by text, voice, and email, integrated in real-time with current resident accounts, as well as prospective leads, through centralized list management. In light of exponential gains in mobile traffic, email templates within Property Solutions' Message Center feature a responsive framework compatible for any browser or device so that residents can view and respond to messages instantly from anywhere.
“Message Center stands apart from other email and text messaging systems because it’s backed by real-time account updates coming through a single database and allows companies to capitalize on marketing opportunities that are specific to the leasing cycle,” said Property Solutions CEO Dave Bateman. “Whether there’s a new guest card coming in, or an upcoming renewal, or even just a birthday message, apartment communities can set up automated messaging to reach renters at specific touchpoints, so they’re consistently engaged.”
Within Message Center’s design library, companies select from an array of customizable email templates, with a live preview of their message as it will appear by mobile device and desktop. The template editor has a complete selection of styling and formatting options for text, images, video, and more. In addition, key metrics such as unsubscribes, open/click rates, and conversion rates are depicted in visual charts and graphs to provide interactive reporting and actionable feedback for users of all levels.
