The article states that the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet and sometimes taught motorcycle safety courses. The 62-year old driver of the Honda Civic did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the report.

According to the Belmont Shore article, the two riders were crossing on green light when the driver of the SUV made an unsafe left turn, hitting the motorcyclists. The driver of the SUV might face criminal charges linked to the accident, the article stated.
“Motorcycle accidents have become all-too-common in Southern California. Even the smallest mistake made by another driver – such as misjudging the time or distance while taking a turn – can have fatal consequences to a rider.
