ISPE Announces 2016 – 2017 Chairman of the Board
Bethesda, Maryland USA (PRWEB) September 29, 2016 -- The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) named Michael A. Arnold RPh as the 2016 – 2017 Chairman of International Board of Directors. Arnold was introduced as the new Chairman of the Board at ISPE’s Annual Meeting & Expo in Atlanta, Georgia.
Arnold has worked at Pfizer Inc. for 34 years in various leadership capacities, including Director of Pharmacy Operations and currently as Investigational Products Business Process Owner.
“I am very fortunate to work for Pfizer, said Arnold. “They have been very supportive of my ISPE activities and the work that ISPE does on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry. ISPE has taken a leadership role in engaging with regulators in key areas such as drug shortages and quality metrics. I am enthusiastic about other recent efforts such as Women in Pharma and Industry Young Professionals, which are part of our strategic initiatives.”
Arnold has been a member of ISPE for more than 18 years serving as leader of the Investigational Products Community of Practice, Chair of the Knowledge Network Council, Chair of the Strategic Forum, and as a Board Officer for the past three years. He is also a member of the Global Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Leadership Forum (GPMLF). In 2011, Arnold was awarded ISPE’s Volunteer of the Year Award.
Representing both ISPE and Pfizer, Arnold introduced keynote speaker Nicole Pierson at the ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo in Atlanta on 19 September. Pierson is the mother of 10-year-old Gavin Pierson, a brain tumor survivor who was the first pediatric patient to take Pfizer’s palbociclib, which was in the clinical trial stage at the time and was made available to Gavin on a compassionate use request. Arnold told the audience, “you are all heroes for the work you do and for providing hope to millions of patients around the world.”
