Israeli-American Expert in Cybersecurity to Present at Connected World Conference
Carol Stream, Ill. (PRWEB) January 20, 2015 -- Jan. 20, 2015 – Wayne Gretzky once said a good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be. Jonathan Ratner looks to apply this same principal to cybersecurity by using the dark Web to forecast tomorrow’s cyber attacks.
“Providing actionable intelligence on cyber attacks is important, but prioritizing the threats is paramount,” says Ratner.
Jonathan Ratner, MSM, Israeli-American expert in HLS & cybersecurity will present at the upcoming Connected World Conference, being held February 23-24 in Birmingham, Ala. His session will focus on this type of forecasting.
Ratner has previously worked with Russian and Israeli engineers in founding and managing startups in clean coal technologies for American utilities, as well as commercializing one of Israel’s top 10 airport security devices. For more than a decade, he managed the operations of hedge funds concentrated in the homeland security sector, and recently led a biometric cybersecurity company in Citi’s Tel Aviv Technology Accelerator program.
“We have the ability to trace the evolution of cybersecurity attacks, and the appropriate defenses; from firewalls and antivirus to active intelligence on the dark Web,” says Ratner. “Understanding the modus operandi of the bad guys and their social networking is a key to protecting ourselves against their schemes.”
Ratner’s vast experience makes him a perfect fit for the 2015 Connected World Conference. The event will focus on the data being aggregated from the IoT (Internet of Things), and the importance of securing the connections providing that data.
“Cybersecurity is of the utmost importance in a time where data has become a vital building block for businesses and government. Whatever role a technology company plays in the ecosystem, they have a responsibility to ensure this data is protected,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Connected World magazine. “Given the unique insight Jonathan can provide, we are thrilled to have his participation in the Connected World Conference for 2015.”
Held in partnership with University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Center for Information Assurance and Joint Forensics Research (The Center), the Connected World Conference will gather professionals together, creating a call-to-action and developing a take-away security strategy to protect our connections to the nation’s most critical infrastructures. The event will be held February 23-24 at the Birmingham Marriott in Alabama.
The 2015 event is sponsored by Altair Semiconductor, Berkeley Varitronics Systems, Gemalto, and Synapse Wireless. To learn more about the 2015 Connected World Conference, please visit the event Website.
