New York, New York (PRWEB) March 25, 2014 -- According to the U.S. Census, the average number of years that a woman leaves the workforce is thirteen years. Often they leave their careers to raise their families or care for aging parents. Many women, after years out of the workforce, decide, for one reason or another, that they want to reengage and restart their careers, whether in the corporate world or by pursuing a lifelong dream of entrepreneurship.
Regardless of why they stepped out, most will agree it’s hard to find a way to step back in – on their own terms.
B.I.G., (Believe, Inspire, Grow) offers women with innate leadership skills, the opportunity to step up in their own communities and reignite their professional dreams. Through the expansion of their local community groups, called pods, B.I.G. enables these women to utilize its platform and begin building upon the next phase of their professional careers. B.I.G. provides a place for them to become respected leaders in their communities while they get paid to do it.
It’s a win-win formula that is helping B.I.G. expand quickly throughout the country, “I wear many hats. Mom. Wife. School volunteer. Community Organizer. Business Entrepreneur. But it wasn’t until I put on my B.I.G. Leader hat that I really figured out who I am and what I want to be doing with my career,” said B.I.G. Pod Leader Melanie from Summit, New Jersey. “There are so many reasons to be a B.I.G. Leader, but helping women connect tops my list. Sure, I connect personally with women who are potential clients for my public relations firm, but the real fulfillment happens when I connect the other women in the room to each other.”
“You can look around a pod meeting and see the women gathered nodding at the speaker’s comments and smiling,” continued Melanie. “B.I.G. speaks directly to them…regardless at what stage of their careers they are at. Yes, women walk away from these meetings with tangible tips on how to run their businesses better. But, in my opinion, the real magic happens in the networking time before and after the meetings and in the countless off-site coffees and lunches that the members have where they are encouraging, supporting, helping and sharing. The willingness that these women have in supporting each other is very inspiring.”
B.I.G. (Believe, Inspire, Grow) has been steadily creating safe and supportive environments since 2009. At B.I.G. meetings, women can gain positive peer support, valuable business and professional information and build authentic and true relationships with other women who share similar life goals. To date, nearly 2,000 suburban women have participated in this women's networking organization as members of B.I.G. and attended monthly pod meetings in nearly 50 locations throughout the Northeast and Midwest.
On Friday, April 11, 2014, B.I.G. will bring this supportive community to the women of Manhattan with a kick-off luncheon event and Inspirational Speakers’ Series. The event is being sponsored by New York-based Financial Focus Group (FFG) and will take place at MetLife, Inc. Headquarters at 1095 Sixth Avenue in Bryant Park.
“We are thrilled to bring the experience of B.I.G. to the women of New York City,” said B.I.G. Founder and CEO Tara Gilvar. “Women have an innate desire to connect with each other, share their life experiences, both good and bad and offer sincere and relevant insights and wisdom with each other. At B.I.G., we provide safe and supportive environments where these validating and productive relationships can begin. At each and every one of our 50 monthly meetings, we witness how the B.I.G. culture helps professional women at all stages in their lives acquire more confidence, make more connections and help women move forward toward their personal and professional goals more quickly."
“The lightning pace of Manhattan can often create a highly competitive and cold environment for women seeking true fulfillment in their lives,” says FFG’s Veronica Cabezas. “We are very confident that professional and entrepreneurial New York women will find the B.I.G. experience to be a welcome relief and will fully embrace this positive and supportive culture as a new way to pursue their professional goals. We are excited to be at the forefront of this great opportunity.”
National Motivational Speaker Tami Evans will be a featured speaker at the B.I.G. NYC Kick-Off Speakers’ Series and will focus on the “Power of Gratitude” in achieving professional goals. Also joining the event will be Katherine Dickson, an ordinary woman who will share her extraordinary story about how gratitude led her past a debilitating brain injury that put her in coma for over a year and ultimately brought her to Broadway, where she is now embarking on a thrilling theatrical career.
Following the April 11th event, participating women will have the opportunity to become members of the B.I.G. organization and attend monthly “pod” meetings being established in communities throughout Manhattan, as well as attend additional Speaker Series Luncheons being scheduled at MetLife Headquarters throughout the year.
