It’s Not Physical It’s Personal: New Cyberbullying PSA from Submit the Documentary & Project Anti-Bully
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 22, 2013 -- “Submit the Documentary” and Project Anti-Bully release new public service announcement geared towards spreading awareness on the emotional damage incurred from cyberbullying on social media.
The public service announcement explains that cyberbullying begins with “one word, one person, one post. This is the reality of cyberbullying” the video also explains that cyberbullying occurs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. The public service announcement acknowledges that bystanders become more than witnesses to this behavior, by joining in or sometimes becoming the bully.
Lead intern Carishma Chinoy, who came up with the concept and edited the video says, “I enjoyed creating a video like this PSA because it is my own way of standing up for every teen that has been cyberbullied or bullied. This concept was a great way to show how cyberbullying works in a more abstract way.”
Fabianna Pergolizzi, founder of Project Anti-Bully, has large hopes and goals for this cyberbullying awareness campaign. Project Anti-Bully is a global non-profit dedicated to moving the conversation forward and educating children and teens about bullying and cyberbullying. “Bullying is an unstoppable global phenomenon that affects everyone directly or indirectly. However by collaborating ideas, raising awareness, and creating change bullying can be managed and controlled. Project Anti-Bully is excited to be partnered up with Submit the Documentary by raising awareness and not anger.”
Kristin Matysik, marketing director for Submit the Documentary, describes the public service announcement as, “a step in the right direction for raising awareness on the topic. What was even more powerful was that our summer high school interns came up with the concept and used their friends in a positive way to give back to society.”
When it comes to bullying and digital bullying, victims and families need to understand they are not alone in this long and stressful battle. Bullying is a social pandemic that has the potential to affect everyone’s life. Through collaborating, ideas, raising awareness, and initiating change, bullying can be controlled and its effects mitigated.
