Italian Narconon Centers Commemorate Decades of Saving Lives from Addiction
(PRWEB) July 22, 2014 -- In the space of just a few weeks, two Narconon centers in Italy invited their graduates, friends and neighbors to celebrate the substantial achievement of many successful years of restoring sobriety to the addicted. In Poggio San Romualdo, Narconon Astore observed its twentieth anniversary. And six hours down the eastern coast of Italy, Narconon Gabbian o in Torre Dell'Orso celebrated its twenty-sixth anniversary.
Both events were attended by local officials who have seen addicted citizens enter Narconon center doors and then saw them walk out after a few months - sober. In Torre Dell'Orso, the Mayor of Melendugno Marco Poti and some local Councillors joined the festivities. In Poggio San Romualdo, a poem was read by a member of the Carabinieri of nearby Fabriano, and Dr. Giorgio Saitta, Councillor for Social Services, expressed his appreciation to the celebrants, followed by a speech by the director of the center.
"Without these Narconon centers, many more lives in Italy would have been lost to heroin, cocaine and the other drugs that pass through this country," said Clark Carr, president of Narconon International in Los Angeles. "Helping persons addicted to drugs requires great patience and infinite care as they slowly rebuild their damaged lives. Our Italian staff exemplify the caring attitude that helps our program achieve success with so many. I'm very proud of both centers and know they will continue to achieve great results for many more years."
Both Narconon centers do much more than simply provide rehabilitation services, although that would be enough. At Narconon Gabbiano, local students studying to be social workers come to the facility to meet people recovering from problems similar to persons they will encounter on their jobs. And the centers have provided live drug prevention lectures to area schools and youth camps for many years. In Torre Dell'Orso, the family members of those in recovery are also offered a Course for Parents. Mothers who just completed this course were awarded their certificates of completion at the event.
As is common to all Narconon anniversary events, individual graduates described how Narconon rehab life skills had turned their lives around. Many of them thanked L. Ron Hubbard, the man who developed these methods of rehabilitating the body, mind and spirit so one can resume a productive, ethical, sober life.
