The crowd roared as DJ Self and DJ Envy battled it out with back-to-back records of 50 Cent, Hov, and Waka Flocka Flame. As their competition came to a close, Meek Mill took center stage, decked out in gold chains, performing hits like “Dreams and Nightmares” and “House Party”. Then the real surprises revealed themselves. The crowds may have already been satisfied with the listed lineup, but Powerhouse had more in store: Jadakiss, Guordan Banks, and Nicki Minaj made surprise appearances in what will no doubt be one of the most memorable performances ever in Brooklyn.
Finally, Kendrick Lamar closed out Powerhouse 2013 with style and aplomb. He brought the crowd to their feet, and they sang and rapped along with him. The night was crystallized when Kendrick paid his respects to New York’s greatest MCs; Lil Kim and Kendrick performed “Get Money” and “All About the Benjamins”.
