itslearning Names Bailey Mitchell Chief Academic Officer
Boston, MA (PRWEB) October 29, 2013 -- itslearning (http://www.itslearning.net), a leading K-12 digital learning management platform, today announced that it has named Bailey Mitchell Chief Academic Officer, effective November 1, 2013.
Mitchell joins itslearning from Forsyth (Ga.) County Schools where he served as chief technology and information officer for the past 16 years. Prior to that, Mitchell served as director of instructional technology for the Georgia Department of Education. Mitchell began his career as a classroom teacher at Burney-Harris Lyons Middle School in Clarke County, Georgia where he taught exploratory computing which focused on project-based learning and computer proficiency. Currently Mitchell serves on the board of directors and is past chair of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), a highly regarded professional association for school district technology leaders.
“I can’t wait to get started,” said Mitchell. “For the past 11 months I have witnessed first-hand the transformational nature of the itslearning solution -- it maintains an outstanding reputation in the European education market; many of the company’s employees share extensive backgrounds in and a passion for education; and most importantly, the itslearning team displayed the characteristics of a ‘partner’ instead of a learning management system provider.” It was the one of the first times in my career that I experienced what it was like to work WITH an education company to develop a solution that worked best for our district. To me, it was a deal maker.”
As a distinguished technology integration expert with more than 30 years in K-12 education and administration, Mitchell brings to itslearning an extraordinary depth of experience in fusing best practice instructional strategies with advanced technology solutions. Applying his exceptional insight into emerging global trends and best practices, Mitchell will, in his new role, affect change in school districts around the country by working in concert with school administrators to improve teaching effectiveness, enrich personalized learning opportunities for students, and expand collaborative communications exchanges with parents.
“We count ourselves so fortunate to have someone of Bailey’s caliber join our leadership team,” said itslearning, Chief Executive officer, Travis Willard. “His reputation for setting very high standards for excellence in Forsyth County and the State of Georgia is recognized nationally and internationally. Throughout his career he has shown a distinctive ability to use his vision coupled with his creativity to solve the challenges that face the education landscape.
