itslearning Updates Assessment and Grading Features to Create Easier Workflows and Expanded Convenience
Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 05, 2017 -- New updates to the itslearning learning management system (LMS) will make it even easier for K-12 teachers to assess and grade their students during the 2017-18 school year. Among the LMS’ enhancements is a streamlined grading workflow, a new capacity for annotating student submissions online and the ability to easily see students’ assignment status, to search and share assessment activities, and to deliver tests and see grades on any device.
“Our goal is to provide the best integrated grading and assessment experience for teachers and students, alike,” said Arne Bergby, CEO of itslearning. “For students, we know the importance of staying connected to their results and outcomes of school work. So now we’ve made it a one-stop shop where they’ll be able to check their grades from any device they choose. For teachers, we were determined to make it easier to complete their assessment and grading tasks so they can spend more time teaching.”
The updated grade book features enhanced data entry and it provides greater ease of use on mobile devices such as tablets. When an assignment or task deadline passes without a submittal from a student, that individual entry in the grade book will automatically become shaded red so teachers can see what’s overdue at a glance.
itslearning will also allow teachers to use their browser to annotate student submissions in common file types such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as Google Sheets, Google Docs and Google Slides. This new annotation capability will simplify the feedback process, allowing for detailed and personalized feedback.
The LMS’ new assignment tool will be the fastest and easiest way to submit, view and grade student work. It will allow students to submit assignments via a cloud service such as Google Drive or OneDrive, which means that they will be able to submit an assignment, or even take a test, on any device of their choosing. The tool also will enable teachers to quickly and easily see which students have or have not completed assigned work.
In addition, teachers will be able to search and share assignments, tests and third party assessments via the itslearning library. Educators can even search for assessments by standards.
A new, shareable and easy-to-use test tool will allow students to take assessments on all devices and screen sizes. “Teachers can let students take a test on their phone in class and immediately see the results so they’ll know whether they need to spend some additional instruction time against the subject matter and when they can safely move on,” said Bergby.
The added assessment and grading features are just the latest enhancements itslearning has announced. In April, the company introduced market-leading integrations to the world’s most popular cloud apps giving users the ability to work in Excel, Word and PowerPoint directly from within itslearning, without the need for a Microsoft email account or for any user information to be shared with Microsoft. In May, the LMS enhanced its mobile app, giving K-12 students and their teachers the full LMS experience even when they’re on the go. District administrators, teachers and students are now able to access course content, resources and tools on their Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Additionally, students can use the app to submit assignments and attach files.
