Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival Announces New Collaboration with Local Winery to Create Commemorative Wines for September Event
Jackson Hole, Wyo. (PRWEB) August 20, 2015 -- The Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival has partnered with local winemakers Jackson Hole Winery to present the signature wine for this year’s festival, September 9 – 20, 2015, in Jackson, Wyo. In the past, the festival has had its commemorative wine for the event bottled in California, but “This collaboration with Jackson Hole Winery to have the wine bottled locally allows us to bring an additional only-in-Jackson aspect to the festival,” says Maureen Murphy, director of special events for the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce, organizer of the festival.
Jackson Hole Winery has selected a Chardonnay and a Syrah as the white and red signature wine offerings for this year’s event. Custom labels on the bottles display the 2015 fall arts festival featured artist Billy Schenck’s oil painting, “13 Minutes From Eternity,” also depicted on the festival’s 2015 official poster. The poster will be available at auction in Jackson’s Town Square on Sept. 19, following the festival’s popular QuickDraw event.
The Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival Chardonnay comes from Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, Calif., a region known for producing some of the finest Chardonnays in the world. The wine is produced in natural French oak barrels allowing it to age without introducing a lot of oak flavor. The winery describes the Chardonnay as clean, crisp, and fruit-forward. It offers green apple and citrus notes on the nose and is medium-bodied, filled with pear and green apple on the palate, with juicy acidity on the finish.
The Syrah comes from Dry Creek Valley, also in Sonoma County, Calif., and is rich in color with a nose like a bowl of dark berry fruit including black cherry, raspberry and plum. Jackson Hole Winery suggests the Syrah pairs perfectly with game meats, such as elk, venison, buffalo and moose – perfect for the fall season.
“Our Syrah has always been a star. In the past, we have discussed coming out with the single varietal, so when the festival approached us to make a wine for them it was the perfect time to do so,” says Jackson Hole Winery Vintner Anthony Schroth. “It is a beautiful wine that will benefit from some bottle aging but is also tasting fantastic right now. We are very excited to be working with the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival,” Schroth adds. “We are grateful to have the opportunity to make wines for the festival and give back to the community. They are a great organization and do so much for the town of Jackson.”
The Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival signature wines can be purchased at The Liquor Store, Dornan’s, and Westside Wine & Spirits. Out-of-towners can order bottles online at: http://bottledwyoming.com/collections/jackson-hole-winery. The Chardonnay will retail at $24, the Syrah at $26. The commemorative is a favorite festival souvenir for attendees, with part of the proceeds from the sale of the wines designated to support the festival.
Located next to Spring Creek in Jackson in what was originally the Spring Creek Dairy of Jackson Hole in the 1940s, Jackson Hole Winery grew out of the Schroth family’s longtime Jackson Hole roots blended with vintner Anthony’s Napa Valley winemaking experience. The family produces and cellars its wines at an altitude of 6,229 feet at the base of the Grand Tetons where the cool mountain air preserves the wine’s aromatics through a slow fermenting and aging process, allowing the wine to develop its distinctive personality.
The 11-day Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival includes more than 50 family-friendly activities – many of them free – as well as the Taste of the Tetons, historic ranch tours and the Showcase of Homes tours of exclusive private residences. Other popular returning events include the Western Design Conference Exhibit + Sale, Sept. 10-13; the free Palates & Palettes gallery walk, Sept. 11; and the QuickDraw and auction in Town Square on Sept. 19.
