James Blackstone Memorial Library Launches Campaign Inviting Patrons to #BookmarkBranford
Branford, Conn. (PRWEB) August 25, 2014 -- The James Blackstone Memorial Library is asking Branford residents to help celebrate the library’s rich history by sharing personal stories about what the library means to them. Whether it’s a place for gathering with friends or where your children learned to read, the library wants to know about it.
“The Library is Branford’s gathering place for learning, enrichment and the exchange of ideas,” said Karen Jensen, director, James Blackstone Memorial Library. “The Library is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the community, and with the introduction of the #BookmarkBranford campaign, we hope to engage our patrons in a meaningful conversation about the role of the library in the community, and serve as an outlet for continued community engagement.”
The #BookmarkBranford campaign aims to gather authentic stories from its patrons about the impact the library has on their lives and those around them. Community members are encouraged to share their personal anecdotes online using the hashtag #BookmarkBranford on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest, or by submitting their story via the library’s website or in-person at the library.
A central hub of the community that inspires lifelong learning, provides essential access to information and strengthens Branford, the Blackstone library served more than 200,000 patrons in 2013 alone. Every day, people of all ages, ethnicities and abilities turn to the Library for a variety of reasons, whether it be to connect to the Internet, teach their children to read or find a place of quiet reading and reflection. Further, the Blackstone Library provides more than just books, computers and DVDs. It provides a place to exchange ideas, build relationships and learn from one another. In 2013, more than 20,000 people attended programming at the library.
By submitting stories via the Blackstone website, its Facebook and Twitter pages, ‘repinning’ a virtual bookmark on Pinterest or submitting their story at the library, community members are encouraged to showcase their connection to the Library while demonstrating to the broader community how important Blackstone is to Branford.
