James Earl Jones Hosts a New "Voices In America" Piece on Making the Workplace Healthier
(PRWEB) September 03, 2015 -- James Earl Jones will be hosting an upcoming VOICES IN AMERICA segment that highlights the importance of workplace wellness. In this episode, James Earl Jones will introduce a segment that discusses why it is important for the workplace to be healthier, the effects of an unhealthy workplace and how workplace wellness can be fostered in any working environment.
Employers are out billions of dollars year after year due to sick and absent employees as well as work-related injuries, chronic diseases and injuries. With stress and fatigue being a major problem in most people’s lives and the primary workforce aging, employers’ medical costs are significantly impacted, as is the productivity of employees. Diabetes, high blood pressure, chest pain and heart attack are four of the most costly conditions here in the United States.
If employers strive to encourage a healthier workplace, this will dramatically cut down on their costs while also protecting their employees. Ultimately, according to the CDC, a healthy workforce can help increase productivity, improve safety, enhance employees’ health and lower health-related costs. This is true regardless of the size of business or organization. Some studies suggest that over three-fourths of employees are positively impacted when health and wellness programs are brought into the work environment, including increase job satisfaction, morale, performance and commitment.
The VOICES IN AMERICA episode will look at ways employers can help encourage employees to lead a healthier lifestyle at and outside of work, such as on-site doctor appointments, weight loss incentives, smoking cessation programs and walking meetings. Ultimately, this is a win-win situation for both employers and employees, as employees will receive the necessary healthcare without having to worry about losing their jobs and employers get an increase productivity from employees and an improved revenue stream.
