Ashland City, TN (PRWEB) November 12, 2015 -- James Riley, of Ashland City, TN, recently received a nomination for the Ameripolitan Music Awards in the “Ameripolitan DJ” category. Riley started his nationally syndicated Rockabilly N Blues Radio Hour in early 2014 as a podcast extension of his love for genres such as rockabilly, blues, surf, early country and rock & roll. The show’s popularity grew quickly as stations were clamoring to air the weekly broadcasts. He produces the show from his home in Ashland City and sends it to the affiliates digitally each week. It airs on 90 stations around the world, with more on the way. Besides terrestrial stations in 28 states in the US, it can be heard in countries like France, Mexico, England, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Brazil and others. The nomination is connected to Surf 97.3 in Flagler Beach, Fl which carries Rockabilly N Blues Radio Hour each week.
In addition to new and vintage tunes, exclusive interviews have become a big part of the show as well. James has spoken with Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame artists such as Dion, John Fogerty, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) and The Beach Boys, to legends like Dick Dale, Linda Gail Lewis, Dave & Phil Alvin, WS Holland (Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins), JM Van Eaton (Jerry Lee Lewis, Billy Lee Riley), Levi Dexter and Robert Gordon. Newer acts, such as JD McPherson, Hillbilly Moon Explosion, Nikki Hill, Switchblade 3 and many more are also featured. Promotions and giveaways play a prominent role with festivals such as Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender, Nashville Boogie Vintage Weekender and Ink N Iron, as well as special autographed vinyl giveaways by Levi Dexter and others.
"James Riley, and his rockabilly show, has a love for the music like I do with artists like Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly and Ricky Nelson. Then there's the guitar heroes that flew under the radar like Scotty Moore, James Burton, Cliff Gallup & Paul Burlison. I knew and loved all these guys. Thank God for James Riley who keeps the music alive!!! Rock on!" Dion (1989 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee)
Winners will be announced live on February 16th, 2016 during the 3rd annual Ameripolitan Awards held at the historic Paramount Theater in Austin, TX and hosted by Ray Benson. The Ameripolitan format and awards were started to highlight what they refer to as “real” country music. It’s designed to acknowledge and promote artists that don’t fit into today’s country music genre. They highlight artists in the honky tonk, western swing, rockabilly and outlaw categories. Plus, they also feature Ameripolitan-friendly venues, festivals, and DJ’s to help further the growth. Recent winners in the Ameripolitan DJ category have been Dallas Wayne and Mojo Nixon. Both are prominently in SiriusXM programming. “To even be nominated and mentioned in the same breath as people like this is a huge honor for me,” says Riley. “My passion is to keep great music alive and to put a spotlight on those that may not otherwise get it due to the current music industry priorities. Ameripolitan is such a great fit for what we’re trying to do and I’m proud to be listed among those with the same passion.” To learn more about the Ameripolitan Music Awards and vote on the categories, go to http://www.ameripolitan.com.
