Jamey Barbas Tapped to Lead Berger Group’s Global Practice for Major Structures
Morristown, N.J. (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Jamey Barbas has been appointed by Berger Group Holdings, Inc. (Louis Berger) to serve as senior vice president in charge of the firm’s global practice for major structures. Barbas brings more than 30 years of experience in design and construction projects, specializing in complex and long span bridges. In this role she will provide strategic direction for Louis Berger’s structure and bridge practice across its operating companies worldwide, reporting functionally to Larry Walker, executive vice president for strategy and development.
“Jamey has extensive experience in delivering major projects around the world, and her addition to the company deepens our ability to provide our clients with further integrated, multi-disciplinary services,” Walker said.
Barbas has held leadership positions in several international consulting firms, including Hardesty & Hanover, ARUP, Parsons and URS Corp. During her career, she has served as a technical advisor to several design-build and public-private partnership (P3) projects, and her management and design experience includes several award-winning domestic and international projects. Most notably, she led the inspection, design and construction support services for the reconstruction of the Williamsburg Bridge in New York City and was the bridge design manager for the AutoRoute 30 project in Montreal, Canada – one of the largest P3 bridge projects in North America.
Barbas was named by Engineering News-Record as one of their top Newsmakers of 2004 for her work in providing an emergency solution to a failing historic suspension bridge in only 15-weeks. She holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Columbia University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York.
