Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 14, 2014 -- Investor Jamie McCourt, formerly Co-Owner, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers and owner of venture capital firm Jamie Enterprises, sponsored an exclusive dinner on Friday, April 25th at her Holmby Hills residence for members of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Collectors Committee. Dinner guests had the opportunity to view Jamie McCourt's private art collection including pieces by Robert Irwin (“Four Fold”), Doug Aitken (“Listening”) and Glenn Ligon (“Everything Must Go”).
Jamie McCourt is a member of LACMA’s Board of Trustees and its Finance Committee. Today LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States, with a collection that includes over 120,000 objects ranging from antiquity to the present, encompassing the geographic world and nearly the entire history of art, serving over one million visitors annually.
Collectors Committee Weekend
The dinner at Jamie McCourt’s home was one of seven held to kick off a fundraising weekend for LACMA. Throughout its 29-year history, the LACMA Collectors Committee Weekend has funded 202 acquisitions through donations totaling more than $32 million.
This year, LACMA announced the acquisition of ten artworks including Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres’ Odalisque; contemporary works by American artist Roni Horn, Chinese artist Feng Mengbo, and Iranian artist Mitra Tabrizian; an 18th- century Virgin of Guadalupe by Antonio de Torres; a print by Pablo Picasso and more.
Said Jamie McCourt: "The live auction, led by my friend and fellow trustee Viveca Paulin-Ferrell, was an exciting conclusion to our weekend. Viveca’s effective power of persuasion effectively brought in an additional $800,000.”
Napa Valley
The Friday dinner sponsored and hosted by Jamie McCourt at her estate in Holmby Hills featured Napa Valley Chef Richard Reddington, and vintner Beth Novak Milliken, President and CEO of the Spottswoode Estate Vineyard and Winery in Napa. Students from the USC Thornton School of Music were the featured entertainment.
A native of New York, Richard Reddington has made an indelible mark on the West Coast dining landscape. His first restaurant, Redd in Yountville, CA, opened to critical acclaim in 2005. Reddington has also been honored with multiple nominations for the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Pacific Region. His most recent venture is Redd Wood, a casual, Napa-style pizzeria, located on the north end of Yountville, in the heart of Napa Valley.
Beth Novak Milliken was the first female President of the Napa Valley Vintner’s Association. She runs the legendary Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery, one of the most respected wineries in the world. She has been a pioneer for women leaders in the wine industry and was instrumental in launching the careers of three of the most important women winemakers in the industry: Pam Starr, Rosemary Cakebread, and Jennifer Williams.

At UCLA Anderson School of Management, Jamie McCourt served for five years as a visiting professor at the graduate level. Her innovative class at the Anderson School, “The Pursuit of Leadership: A Female Perspective,” was the first accredited graduate-level leadership course specifically designed for women at a leading U.S. business school.
She also serves on the Board of Trustees at the University of Southern California, on the Board of Councilors of the USC Thornton School of Music and is an active member of the Pacific Council on International Policy.
Jamie McCourt also currently serves on the Executive Board of the UCLA Anderson School of Management as well as the North American Executive Board at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
