Jefferson Berry Releases "The UAC EP," with the Highlight Being a Fresh Holiday Track, "Leaving Town for Christmas"
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- From the drunk-on-the-town to the cop on the take, there’s always an interesting tale in the songs of Jefferson Berry. In his fifth release, Berry has again teamed up with Emmy-award winning producer Rodney Whittenberg. The UAC EP is a five-song release that features a dozen players—The Urban Acoustic Coalition.
Each song on The UAC EP has a story that Jefferson alludes to in his live performances, with the highlight being a fresh holiday track, "Leaving Town for Christmas." Berry, who hails from California (Malibu/Venice, UC Santa Cruz, Modesto & San Francisco) has made the trip home for the holidays dozens of times. “It’s a wild time each year for most folks, but the coast-to-coast connection is particularly tricky. Sooner or later you’re gonna sleep in an airport with missed connections.” says Berry. At an efficient 2:16, “Leaving Town for Christmas” will undoubtedly be the next nationally beloved holiday tune.
The collection of songs includes long-time collaborators Bud Burroughs (Boris Garcia, Hippies & Hillbillies), Billy Hyatt (Don Evans, The Berrys) and Ron Ward (Johnny’s Dance Band, Hippies & Hillbillies). The band is anchored by Dave Brown, with whom Jefferson first got together playing benefits for Hurricane Katrina victims. The EP is in anticipation of a full album release and a follow up to The Berrys, Fairmount Station, which got national Americana play in 2011 and 2012.
Producer of Urban Acoustic in 1999 and founder of Hippies and Hillbillies in 2004, Jefferson Berry plays in a wide variety of guitar styles. As a published historian, Berry brings a perspective that is progressive and accessible. Berry’s latest project, the Urban Acoustic Coalition, brings this danceable style and contemporary point of view to a unique wing of the Americana/Folk Rock scene.
