Jefferson's Brind-Marcus Center of Integrative Medicine in Villanova, Pa., Opens for Patients
Villanova, Pa. (PRWEB) December 08, 2015 -- This week, Jefferson is welcoming patients to the Brind-Marcus Center of Integrative Medicine in Villanova, Pa., the first satellite location of the Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine at Jefferson. The new, 14,000 square foot center was made possible by a $14 million gift from The Marcus Foundation, which is chaired by Bernie Marcus, co-founder of The Home Depot.

The Brind-Marcus Center is anchored by a physician-based general integrative medicine practice that combines the best of modern medicine with complementary therapies. Brind-Marcus Center physicians put the patient first by focusing on proactive wellness, rigorously researching treatments and integrating them into a plan of care individualized for each patient’s goals.
In early 2016, the center will introduce its highly unique Integrative Brain Health program, a comprehensive neurocognitive program that will feature advanced assessment and treatment of cognitive health. The center will also offer integrative cardiology, which will focus on prevention and provide integrative solutions for lipidemia and other cardiovascular issues.
The Marcus Foundation gift also provided funding for a PET-MRI (Positron Emission Tomography-Magnetic Resonance Imaging), the first of its kind in the Philadelphia region. This hybrid technology, anticipated to be available for patients in early 2016, combines an MRI with molecular imaging to give a complete picture with precise alignment of anatomy and metabolic activity. Patients who may benefit from both tests will have the convenience of having them combined into one by using the PET-MRI at the Villanova location. This technology will assess a wide range of diseases, guide innovative treatment protocols and enhance research at the center and across Jefferson.
“The PET-MRI is a game-changer for our patients, our research and for validating our clinical model,” said Monti.
Other services will include a targeted nutrient infusion program, integrative management of chronic illnesses, preventive health and wellness programs and a variety of mind-body therapies. The Brind-Marcus Center will also feature the Executive Great Life Program, a one-day, comprehensive evaluation and personalized health plan.
