Jenzabar and The Jenzabar Foundation Sponsor Virtual Conference at Carthage College
Boston, MA (PRWEB) August 22, 2013 -- Jenzabar®, Inc., a leading provider of software, strategies, and services for higher education, and The Jenzabar Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports student-focused initiatives in higher education, supported an innovative virtual event for librarians and educators through Carthage College. Forecasting Next Generation Libraries is a virtual conference of online presentations and discussions.
The virtual course-ference explored the factors that will shape the future of libraries worldwide and the methodologies that can be used to forecast that future. The 2-month online course was powered by Jenzabar eLearning, a collaborative learning management system, and also with support from The Jenzabar Foundation. All of the materials and interactive venues are available online to participants throughout the duration of the event and beyond.
Factors highlighted and discussed include the future student, the changing face of higher education, new and evolving technologies, changing models of publishing, and the future trends in libraries themselves. Participants learned how librarians can predict and prepare for the next two decades of librarianship, and designed plans to take their own libraries through 2033.
“Jenzabar and The Jenzabar Foundation are delighted to support a virtual conference that shares the latest knowledge in higher education and technology related to libraries, as well as an initiative that will ultimately enhance student learning,” said Robert A. Maginn, Jr., Chairman and CEO of Jenzabar. “Through Carthage College, and powered through Jenzabar eLearning, the conference was accessed anywhere world-wide and can now be viewed beyond the event.”
The course-ference had more than 250 participants from three continents, including 25 expert panelists and speakers, and was organized by Library and Information Services at Carthage, a private four-year college of the liberal arts and sciences in Kenosha, Wis. Technological innovations made by LIS helped Carthage earn recognition as one of eight higher education “Models of Efficiency” across the nation by University Business magazine in summer 2013.
