Jerry's Artarama Hosts Fourth Annual Self-Portrait Contest
Raleigh, N.C. (PRWEB) January 29, 2016 -- Jerry’s Artarama, the nation’s best source for fine art supplies at the lowest prices, announced its plans to host its fourth annual self-portrait contest. Effective immediately, artists may submit their artwork for a chance to win over $4,000 in prizes.
Last year, over 2,500 self-portraits were submitted and even more artists are expected to submit their original artwork this year.
“Each year we’re impressed by the level of creativity and talent expressed in the portraits entered for this contest,” says Mike Marchetta, director of marketing and operations for Jerry’s Artarama. “It’s one of our favorite events because our customers are able to vote on their favorite pieces of artwork and help determine the winning portraits.”
The rules of the contest are simple. Each artist is limited to one self-portrait entry. Any medium, wet or dry, is acceptable. Artists are encouraged to draw or paint the portrait in any artistic style of their choosing so long as it is original, creative and of themselves. Entries will be accepted from January 11, 2016 - April, 10, 2016.
Open voting on the self-portrait entries will occur between April 11, 2016 and April 29, 2016. During that time, 30 finalists will be chosen by popular vote. A separate jury of professional artists will select an additional 30 finalists for a total of 60 finalists, from which 33 contest winners will be chosen.
Jerry’s Artarama is offering the self-portrait contest winner a $2,000 shopping spree on jerrysartarama.com in the form an of an e-gift card. Second place will earn an $850 e-gift card and third place will receive a $400 e-gift card. Each of the 30 honorable mention recipients will win $25 e-gift cards.
