Jill Milan Introduces Ladies Thoroughbred Tee - Brand’s First Apparel Item Benefits Non-Profit Horse Rescue
SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Jill Milan®, a provider of designer Italian handbags, today announced availability of its first apparel item, the Ladies Thoroughbred Tee. Sales of the T-shirt, which features a horse’s head drawn by an Oxford-trained fine artist, benefit Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue.
“I am very pleased that our first apparel item will benefit Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue’s efforts,” said Jill Milan founder and CEO Jill Fraser. “These are fine animals which unfortunately can end up in unsafe situations. We are happy to help support SCTR in its fine work.”
SCTR rescues Thoroughbreds of all ages with a primary goal of rescuing horses at livestock and “low-end” auctions which sell horses for the value of their meat. It is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer charity which rescues Thoroughbred horses from slaughter, neglect and abuse. The horses SCTR cares for typically were bought at prestigious yearling sales for amounts exceeding $100,000 when they were racing prospects, but later often sell at livestock auctions for as little as $185.
A soft and stylish T-shirt, the Ladies Thoroughbred Tee features a crew neckline and fitted shape, and is 100 percent organic cotton. The horse image was created by Julius Lumsden, an Oxford-educated fine artist whose fashion accomplishments include developing his own couture line and serving as Designer in Residence for the New York City Ballet.
The Ladies Thoroughbred Tee is the most recent Jill Milan product to directly support at-risk horses. Sales of Jill Milan’s first jewelry item, the Lucky Pendant made in Florence, Italy, of sterling silver, and the Thoroughbred Bag, also support SCTR.
Jill Milan handbags are made entirely in Italy, by Italian artisans using Italian materials. Features include hand stitching and metalwork handmade by craftsmen who create jewelry for Europe’s leading luxury brands. All Jill Milan products are free of animal-based materials such as leather, fur and wool – Ms. Fraser was inspired to found Jill Milan because she was unable to find high-quality, luxury handbags that were not made of leather or other animal-based materials. She is a supporter of animal welfare initiatives, and as a former equestrian particularly supports charities that benefit horses.
Jill Milan handbags have drawn increased attention from influential fashion media. W Magazine has covered Jill Milan in multiple issues, including featuring the Octagon Clutch in a recent issue. Entertainment, fashion, and lifestyle news magazine Entertainista named the SoHo Carryall a “Must Have” handbag. The Zoe Report recognized the Newbury Street Portfolio for its ability “to go from the office to cocktail hour.” Wedding media publisher The Knot featured the Art Deco Clutch as part of a striking wedding ensemble. And influential fashion blog Wendy’s Lookbook featured photos of fashion writer Wendy Nguyen carrying the Art Deco Clutch on her trip to Florence, Italy.
