John Gunderson’s 2007 novel to be featured at 2015 California Library Association Conference
WAKE FOREST, N.C. (PRWEB) August 28, 2015 -- When John Gunderson came out of retirement to drive a school bus for several years, he fondly recalled his own pleasant memories riding the bus as a child. This made it even more shocking when, upon starting his job as a bus driver, he was not met with pleasant behavior, but rude passengers with little to no respect for others.
Gunderson draws from his experience as a bus driver to bring readers his debut novel, “School Bus 113” (published by iUniverse), which follows the life of a bus driver as he attempts to instill positive values in the children of school bus 113. His book will be featured at this year’s California Library Association Conference.
Mr. T, the driver of bus 113, sees and hears everything: taunts, threats, fights and sometimes humor. The students that make up bus 113 are anything but well-behaved. With almost no support from the school or parents, Mr. T is at a loss as to how he can help the students learn about respect and other values.
“School Bus 113” follows the various students on the bus and Mr. T, as he struggles to find the self confidence he has always lacked. With the help of Noah Lamb, the son of a pastor and a student on the bus, Mr. T will discover how to overcome his fears and help the children, even if it costs him everything.
