John Wayne Cancer Foundation Launches 'Show Your Grit' Campaign
Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) May 26, 2016 -- John Wayne Cancer Foundation (JWCF), whose mission is to bring courage, strength, and grit to the fight against cancer, today announces the launch of its ‘Show Your Grit’ campaign, which will run from May 26, 2016, through June 19, 2016. The initiative’s goal is to raise awareness and money for the Foundation’s efforts, inviting participants to join the campaign by posting to social media with the hashtag #ShowYourGrit.
The campaign is meant to attract, engage, and retain a community of John Wayne cancer fighters, while meaningfully supporting the organization’s work. Every day patients, families, caregivers, and support groups bring courage, strength, and grit to the fight against cancer, and the ‘Show Your Grit’ movement will provide a platform for anyone whose life has been touched by cancer to come together and show support in the fight against this terrible disease.
Individuals who wish to participate are invited to post to social media throughout the duration of the campaign and challenge friends to get involved by tagging them in their posts. Through these posts, the initiative hopes to create a community of support where participants feel like they are part of a larger fight. The campaign will also serve as a direct fundraiser for JWCF programs. Each time the #ShowYourGrit hashtag is utilized, an anchor partner will donate $1 to the foundation. Participants are also encouraged to give directly, and all money raised will work to support innovative programs funded by JWCF that help improve cancer patients’ outcomes.

Show Your Grit is set to kickoff on May 26, 2016, the anniversary of John Wayne’s birthday. The launch celebrations will begin in Texas, where state officials have designated the date as John Wayne Day, followed by a Texas Rangers baseball game where there will be free John Wayne-inspired swag, a fireworks display, and appearances by the Wayne family. The campaign will culminate on Father’s Day, June 19, with a special screening of the western cult classic and John Wayne fan favorite True Grit, airing in select metropolitan cities around the country.
