Johns Hopkins Carey Business School Makes Three Faculty Appointments
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School announces the appointments of real estate professors Ko Wang and Su Han Chan to the full-time faculty, as well as the appointment of Carey’s Vice Dean for Education Kevin Frick to the position of tenured professor at the school. Frick also is a tenured professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
At the Carey School, Ko Wang will be a tenured professor and will hold the title of Dean’s Chair in Real Estate and Infrastructure. He previously served as the Newman Chair in Real Estate Finance in the William Newman Department of Real Estate at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College/City University of New York. He earned his PhD in real estate and finance, MBA with a real estate concentration, and MS in community and regional planning at the University of Texas at Austin.
After joining the Zicklin School of Business as the real estate department’s founding chair in 2005, he created four new degree programs -- BBA in real estate, MBA in real estate, MS in real estate, and PhD in real estate within the finance specialization -- and established a departmental advisory board comprising domestic and overseas real estate industry leaders.
Wang has published widely in real estate and finance journals, and has co-authored a book for the Oxford University Press on real estate investment trusts. In addition, he is the editor of theJournal of Real Estate Research, founding executive editor of the International Real Estate Review, and co-executive editor of the Journal of Housing Studies.
Su Han Chan also arrives from the Zicklin School at Baruch College, where she has been a professor in the real estate department since 2009. She holds a PhD in finance from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA with a finance concentration from Louisiana Tech University. From 1993 to 2009, Chan was a professor of finance at California State University at Fullerton.
Her numerous research articles have appeared in leading finance and real estate finance journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis,Journal of Business, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, and Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics. She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Real Estate Research and the International Real Estate Review.
Chan will be a professor in the practice track at the Carey School, focusing on real estate and finance.
The appointments of Wang and Chan are effective June 2, 2014.
Kevin Frick joined the Carey Business School in 2013 as the vice dean of education and a professor with expertise in cost-effectiveness analysis in fields ranging from ophthalmology to nursing to cancer care. Trained as a health economist, he spent more than 16 years on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health before moving to the Carey School. One of his central charges as vice dean is to ensure a quality classroom experience for Carey students.
Frick, who earned his PhD in economics and health services organization and policy at the University of Michigan, has published more than 180 peer-reviewed journal articles, of which he is principal author on more than 60. His research has appeared in publications such as the Annals of Emergency Medicine and the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology. Among his honors and distinctions is an Excellence in Teaching Award from the Bloomberg School.
