St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) August 05, 2015 -- Jordan Lawrence, the leading provider of records management and information governance solutions and long-time Association of Corporate Counsel Alliance Partner, today announced they partnered with Manatt Phelps & Phillips on a CLE event on Corporate Cybersecurity Preparedness last week. The Lunch program was hosted by the Association of Corporate Counsel San Diego Chapter and was held at the offices of Willis Insurance the week of August 3rd.
This interactive session provided corporate counsel with practical steps they can take to assess their cyber and privacy risks and devise internal strategies for proactive defense.
As the headlines make clear, no company or industry is indemnified from the extreme risk of data breach. Every company, whether consumer-facing, infrastructure or services, is facing an onslaught of potential cyber threats coming from many different directions, placing customer and employee information, intellectual property and trade secrets, and other proprietary information at risk of theft and disclosure. These risks also can place your company in the crosshairs of regulatory enforcement and litigation, not to mention damage your reputation, brand, and customer/business relationships.
Indeed, Boards of Directors, shareholders, GCs and regulators are asking tough questions that all levels of management - CEO, GC, CFO, CISO, CPO and Risk Manager - need to be prepared to answer:
- Is your company at risk of a cyber incident?
- Do we have a response plan?
- What types of threats should we be concerned with?
- Should we explore cyber insurance and, if so, what kind of coverage do we need?
- Can we protect ourselves through other means of contractual indemnification with business partners and vendors?
- Is our company taking adequate steps to avoid an attack and protect the company and sensitive information?
The panel included Rebecca Perry, CIPP/US/G Director of Professional Services at Jordan Lawrence, Donna Wilson, Co-Chair, Privacy and Data Security Group at Manatt Phelps & Phillips and Linda Kornfeld, Partner at Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman.
Panelists shared strategies on how to proactively address data breach risks and respond in a way that complies with applicable laws, mitigates potential liabilities and protects the company's business and customer relationships.
