Originally started in the 1970’s as the Lou Costello Tent by Mr. Costello’s personal physician and longtime friend Dr. Fred Crecente, the organization is comprised of prominent members of the professional and business world. The organization has raised thousands of dollars for charitable organizations via celebrity dinner roasts, casino nights, and golf outings. Celebrities who have been roasted in the tent’s history include Mickey Mantle, Billy Martin, Chuck Scarborough, Mel Allen, Phil Simms, Lou Duva, Daryl Strawberry, Sen. Bill Bradley, Rocky Graziano, Henny Youngman, Pat Cooper and Bob Grant.
After a long hiatus, former Director and current President Joseph Federico revamped The Lou Costello Charity Tent of Paterson, NJ as a sub-chapter of the National Circus Saints and Sinners of America, Inc. through the permission of the Costello family. It was established to continue the fund raising principles of the previous tent to aid charity organizations and charitable causes by holding fundraisers of various types.
Upcoming projects include a celebrity roast (to be announced), a night at the races and a circus event.
