Joseph Federico, VP and Director of NJ MET, Announces 2014 Corporate Sponsorship of the American Red Cross
Clifton, NJ (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 -- Joseph Federico, Vice President and Director of NJ MET in Clifton, NJ, has announced NJ MET’s 2014 corporate sponsorship of the American Red Cross’ continuing relief efforts in the Philippines. “Our sponsorship means that a portion of proceeds from testing and procurement projects will be presented to the American Red Cross on December 31, 2014,” said Joseph Federico. “This is our 4th year as a corporate sponsor. It’s something that we are very proud of.”
The American Red Cross has been very involved in the relief efforts to recover from typhoon Haiyan which struck the Philippines in November, 2013. The Philippine Red Cross worked with local authorities to support people being evacuated in advance of the storm. The typhoon left devastation in its path, destroying roads and communications infrastructure in addition to homes, schools and businesses. The Red Cross has provided food, water, relief supplies and personnel starting immediately after the typhoon struck.
The American Red Cross’ efforts included sending personnel with expertise in communications infrastructure to help with repairs, sending supplies and using its family tracing service to connect Americans to missing family members in the Philippines.
In addition, the American Red Cross is working on a number of projects in the Philippines in reaction to typhoon Haiyan and earlier typhoons. One such project is the “Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response” which is helping Red Cross organizations throughout Southeast Asia improve disaster preparedness. This program increases the number of first responders in communities throughout the Philippines and the disaster prone areas of Southeast Asia.
“NJ MET’s annual Red Cross sponsorship is one of several charitable efforts at NJ MET,” said Director Joseph Federico. Other recent projects through the Red Cross include efforts to help those in Japan, Haiti, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as well as American military members while they are serving around the world and when they return home.
