Joseph Phelps Vineyards Re-Opens its Original Winery to Visitors Following an Extensive Renovation
St. Helena, CA (PRWEB) June 16, 2015 -- Joseph Phelps Vineyards is pleased to announce the re-opening of its original winery building to visitors, following an extensive sixteen-month renovation. Designed in 1973 by renowned architect John Marsh Davis, the Phelps family and executive team commissioned award-winning firms Baldauf Catton Von Eckartsberg (BCV) Architects and Brandenburger Associates AIA to repurpose the interior winery spaces, enhancing the guest experience, while maintaining the building’s existing redwood exterior design.
“The original winery building means so much to our family and employees, and we are excited to share this new Napa Valley experience with our visitors,” said Bill Phelps, President of Joseph Phelps Vineyards.
Guests to the winery now stroll through redwoods and a California Savanna garden before walking under the original redwood trellis and entering the reception hall. Newly created distinctive tasting areas include the Backus, Insignia and Founder’s rooms along with a Great Hall at the center of the building. A beautiful library showcases the winery’s history through temperature-controlled display cases filled with Insignia and Cabernet Sauvignon verticals along with rare vintages of Syrah and Pinot Noir. A new state-of-the-art kitchen allows for enhanced wine and food pairings and expanded terrace views complete an unparalleled Napa Valley winery visitation experience.
Non-architectural design features include custom tables made of salvaged Bay Laurel and Elm, unique rugs from Nepal and custom chandeliers, all chosen to complement the design.
As part of a continued commitment to the environment and as a service to guests, Phelps also installed two Tesla charging stations in the winery’s visitor parking area.
Joseph Phelps Vineyards offers Terrace Tastings, Exceptional Wine Experiences and Private Tastings seven days a week, by prior appointment. Please call the winery at 800-707-5789 to schedule a visit. For more information on the available tasting experiences, visit josephphelps.com.
