Joseph R. Perella To Be Honored At New York Fundraiser Supporting The Atlantic Salmon Federation
St. Andrews, N.B. (PRWEB) October 31, 2014 -- The Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) is pleased to announce that Joseph R. Perella of New York City will be honored at the 32nd annual New York dinner being held on Wednesday, November 12th at the Plaza Hotel. Mr. Perella is a Founding Partner and Chairman of Perella Weinberg Partners, a firm that focuses on corporate advisory services in mergers, acquisitions and restructuring, as well as asset management. It has offices in New York, London, Abu Dhabi, Denver, Dubai and San Francisco. He is a long-time member of the ASF Board of Directors (U.S.), as well as President of the Sutter Salmon Club located on the Miramichi River in New Brunswick, Canada.
The New York dinner, co-chaired by Paul Fitzgerald and Eric W. Roberts, represents a significant portion of ASF fundraising efforts with monies raised going to support the restoration and protection of wild Atlantic salmon in Canada and the United States. This year is of particular importance however, with record-low Atlantic salmon returns being reported in many North American rivers, including the Miramichi.
“This year more than ever, we need to come together to support wild Atlantic salmon and the tremendous efforts ASF is making to save the species via research, dam removal projects in Maine, and restoration projects on North American rivers,” says Joseph R. Perella. “The New York dinner is a critical fundraiser for ASF and, as honoree, I am happy to be a part of this successful event.”
The New York dinner will include a silent, live and online auction. New this year, two trips will be auctioned to benefit members of Project Healing Waters, a program which serves military personnel who have been wounded, injured or disabled by assisting with healing and recovery through fly fishing and fly tying. Bidders at the auction will have an opportunity to send 12 veterans on a salmon fly-fishing trip to Two Brooks Camp and Restigouche River Lodge in New Brunswick, Canada next year.
“ASF and its Board of Directors are excited to take on this new initiative to offer these veterans a fly-fishing experience of a lifetime, while at the same time providing them with an opportunity to heal,” says Edgar M. Cullman Jr., a member of the ASF Board of Directors (U.S.). “ASF is pleased to play a role in their recovery.”
Other donated items available for auction consist of dinners, original art, and once-in-a-lifetime salmon fishing trips, including an invitation from the Duke and Duchess of Abercorn to experience three days of salmon fishing on the River Mourne, one of the most prolific salmon fisheries in Northern Ireland, with accommodation in the castle, kindly facilitated by The Atlantic Salmon Trust.
This year’s New York dinner will feature land based, closed-containment grown farmed Atlantic salmon, sustainable, gourmet cuisine by catering service Great Performances, and a Paddle Raise to support the restoration of Atlantic salmon spawning habitat in Maine.
