Judith Gilbert Durst Receives Jack F. Derrickson Award for Outstanding Course Leadership
Malvern, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) July 09, 2015 -- Judith Gilbert Durst, CPCU, AU, AINS, ARe, is the 2015 recipient of the Jack F. Derrickson Award for Outstanding Course Leadership, given by The Institutes. The Derrickson Award is presented annually and honors a teacher of insurance courses whose students pass The Institutes’ examinations at a rate higher than the national average over an extended period of time.
Beginning her insurance career in high school, Durst has worked in the industry for more than 40 years. Her experience includes holding positions as a personal lines and commercial lines customer service representative, a commercial lines underwriter, and a commercial lines manager and coordinator, as well as an auditor.
Durst has been an instructor since attaining the CPCU designation in 1985. She continues to lead courses for The Institutes’ designation programs, including CPCU, Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI®), Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR®) and AINS, and she has written and taught numerous courses and webinars. Additionally, she is a current member, past president and education committee chairperson of the New Hampshire CPCU Society Chapter.
Each year, The Institutes provide for the Derrickson Award winner and a guest to attend The Institutes’ annual CPCU conferment ceremony during the CPCU Society Annual Meeting—to be held this year in Indianapolis—at which the recipient is presented with a check for $250 and a Derrickson Award plaque.
This award is named for the late Jack F. Derrickson, CPCU, who served for more than 40 years as a grader of The Institutes’ examinations and for many years as a course leader. Derrickson, who passed away in 2004 at the age of 92, funded this award to recognize excellence in course leadership.
