Juniper Systems Limited Introduces Rugged Computers for Hazardous Locations to European Oil & Gas Industry – Intrinsically-Safe Archer 2 Hazloc, Mesa Make European Debut
Birmingham, UK (PRWEB UK) 19 March 2015 -- Juniper Systems Limited, based in Birmingham, U.K., are excited to introduce its rugged handheld computers to the European marketplace. The Archer 2™ (Archer 2 Hazloc) and Mesa® Rugged Notepad are both available and certified for hazardous locations.
“Juniper Systems are thrilled to bring these two, high-quality rugged computers to the European marketplace”, said Simon Bowe, general manager of Juniper Systems Limited. “With the drive to increase efficiency, improve safety and reduce overheads, combined with a lack of intrinsically safe devices available in the marketplace – we are confident that our rugged handhelds will improve conditions and lower the risk for data collection both on and offshore”.
The intrinsically safe Archer 2 Hazloc is ATEX- and UL Class I, II, & III, Division 2-certified, and is designed to perform safely in hazardous locations where flammable gases, liquids, vapors, dusts, or fibers and particles may be present.
The Mesa Rugged Notepad combines the advantages of a tablet PC with a rugged handheld computer to provide ultimate flexibility for data collection in the field. The Mesa is also ATEX- and UL Class I, Division 2-certified, for safe performance where explosive gases or vapors may be present.
Juniper Systems ultra-rugged handheld computers have long held Class I, Div 2 American certifications; however, in response to increased demand from our European partners and users, we are delighted to announce that we have added devices with ATEX certification to our portfolio. For more information and details about these intrinsically safe, rugged handheld computers, please visit our website.
Rugged handheld computers that are ATEX-certified are particularly critical for industries such as oil, gas, and petrochemicals, especially when drilling and extraction are involved. Wherever workers frequently face environments containing flammable substances, the Archer 2 Hazloc is certified safe for use in these extreme conditions. It eases the data collection process without a risk of flammability, improving productivity for workers while keeping data safe in the surrounding environment. In addition, the Archer 2 Hazloc features enhanced GNSS performance, extended Bluetooth® range, a barcode scanner, and RFID-compatibility.
“Archer 2 Hazloc meets the safety regulations required for ATEX Zone 2 and Class I, II, and III, Div 2 hazardous locations, while providing features that make the day’s work easier”, said Bowe. “The extra-long battery life and super-crisp display are in high demand whether doing exploratory drilling or as part of a full rig. It’s a powerful, compact handheld that does the job effortlessly, while providing protection against environmental hazards”.
Both rugged handhelds feature Microsoft® Windows® Embedded Handheld operating system and high-visibility, sunlight-viewable displays. The extra-long battery life is provided by Juniper Systems’ proprietary Overtime Technology™, and runs for at least 16 hours on one charge. Both computers are tested to MIL-STD-810G, and are waterproof, dustproof and shock-proof.
