Jupiter Island Public Safety Department Adds More License Plate Recognition Sytems from NDI-RS
Longwood, FL (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- The Jupiter Island Public Safety Department, an NDI Recognition Systems (NDI-RS) customer, has expanded its automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) system by adding two new single-camera systems. The cameras, deployed in strategic locations, will provide the department with critical intelligence, helping them investigate criminal activity and locate vehicles of interest. The Jupiter Island Public Safety Department has been using NDI-RS license plate recognition solutions since 2009.
The NDI-RS cameras capture images and location data of vehicle license plates, and translate those images into text. License plate numbers are matched against crime databases like the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and state and local wants and warrants, including AMBER and Silver Alerts. Police officers can be notified when the cameras identify a wanted vehicle, and data is fully searchable using NDI-RS’s Vehicle Intelligence Server and Communications Engine (VISCE) back office software.
“As a long-standing NDI-RS customer, the Jupiter Island Public Safety Department is very aware of the strategic value of our license plate recognition solutions,” said Christopher McKissick, Director of Sales. “Fixed camera installations work 24 hours a day, providing extra sets of ‘eyes’ that will help the department locate suspects, identify crime trends, and pursue criminal investigations.”
