Jury Awards Fort Lauderdale Women $363,398 Against Save-A-Lot For Negligence
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (PRWEB) November 04, 2017 -- In April of 2017, a jury awarded Latasha West, a mother of six, $363,398 in total compensation for her slip and fall accident that occurred in Aisle 8 of Save-A-Lot in Plantation, Florida on March 20, 2014 (Broward Case # CACE-14-017346). Latasha took to the stand and testified about her trip to Save-A-Lot with her children. While going back to Aisle 8, Latasha alleged that she slipped on egg causing her to crash to the floor, which ultimately caused her severe permanent injuries according to her doctors.
During trial, Tucker Law presented expert testimony from her surgeon and pain management doctors. In addition, Tucker Law questioned a host of witnesses including Lawrence Dimauro the District Manager and Corporate Representative for Save-A-Lot, Thomas Procida the store manager, Lanesha Lee the cashier, Rhonda Campbell the grocery stocker, and Kervins Bien-Aime the security guard.
Ultimately, the jury concluded that Save-A-Lot had actual and/or constructive knowledge of the dirty slippery substance on the ground of Aisle 8. The jury was out for approximately nine hours over two days before rendering their decision. The jury awarded $175,000 in future medical bills and future pain and suffering of $112,000, as well as other damages totaling $363,398.
Save-A-Lot has appealed the verdict and the outcome is pending an Appeal.
