Jvion Selected as Finalist for Mayo Clinic Think Big Challenge
Rochester, Minn (PRWEB) September 08, 2016 -- The Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation and Mayo Clinic Ventures today announced that Jvion of Johns Creek, GA has been selected as one of five finalists for the Mayo Clinic Think Big Challenge, a national competition for innovators and entrepreneurs to earn the opportunity to license Mayo Clinic technology, lead a team, and score a $50,000 cash prize.
Jvion has chosen to present a market strategy for the Mayo Clinic technology, Bedside Patient Rescue, a bedside patient monitoring system that uses machine learning technology and is scalable to any sized hospital. The system calculates a risk score for hospitalized patients and provides both prompt alerts in cases when a hospitalized patient’s health is deteriorating as well as a framework for building a care escalation plan.
Reflecting on the opportunity, Jvion’s CEO Shantanu Nigam said “we are thrilled to participate in the Think Big Challenge. We want to work with the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation and Mayo Clinic Ventures because we want to stop unnecessary deaths. We want caregivers armed with the best insights and most accurate predictions so that patient and family suffering can be prevented.”
The final round of competition will occur on September 15 at the Mayo Clinic Transform 2016 Conference in Rochester, Minnesota, before an expert panel of venture capitalists and a live Transform audience. The winner will become the Mayo Clinic Think Big Challenge entrepreneur in residence.
“There’s a new twist to the Think Big Challenge this year,” says Jeanne Huddleston, M.D., co-moderator for the Mayo Clinic Think Big Challenge final competition. “We will be looking for the go-to-market strategy, savvy, and energy that will launch one of Mayo Clinic’s technologies to make it available to patients all over the nation or world.”
The judging panel for the Mayo Clinic Think Big Challenge includes:
- Rob Faulkner, Redmile Group, LLC
- Timmeko Love, Mayo Clinic Ventures
- Nick Solaro, Drive Capital
- Mustaqeem Siddiqui, M.D., Mayo Clinic
- Gary Smith, Rochester Economic Development Agency, Inc.
