KÜHL Donates $25,000 to Preserve 1,350 Acres of High Alpine Forest in Utah’s Central Wasatch
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) June 07, 2017 -- KÜHL is donating $25,000 to partner Save Our Canyons today to help raise the necessary $4 million to save Bonanza Flats. The 1,350-acre parcel of open land faces the threat of being developed if the money is not raised by June 15, 2017. According to the Save Our Canyons website, previous plans to develop the land have included an 18-hole golf course, luxury retreat, high-end homes and ski lifts.
The effort to raise money to purchase the land for conservation began in the fall of 2016. A coalition of non-profit organizations and recreation groups has worked to raise awareness and close to $34 million thus far. Save Our Canyons began circulating a petition for Salt Lake County Council to join other public entities including Summit County, Wasatch County, Salt Lake City and Park City to commit funds to save Bonanza Flats on Monday of this week.

Bonanza Flats is situated near the towns of Midway and Park City between Brighton, Deer Valley, and Park City ski resorts and can be accessed via the scenic drive over Guardsman’s Pass. The area is home to wildlife including black bear, deer, moose and birds of prey, is close to hiking and mountain biking trails and is a popular place for residents to enjoy the changing leaves of quaking aspen during fall.
