K Rico, Diner's Choice Winner from Open Table, Marks One-Year & Adds Weekend Brunch and Prix-Fixe Theatre Menu
(PRWEB) January 12, 2016 -- K Rico South American Steakhouse, recipient of a Diner's Choice Award from Open Table, will mark its one-year anniversary next month.
The exciting restaurant has become a top destination spot in the heart of Hell's Kitchen. Due to popular demand and clientele's requests, the restaurant has added a three-course prix-fixe pre-theater menu at $36/person (must show current ticket stub) as well as a unlimited brunch menu on weekends with continual mimosas, Bloody Marys and Margaritas for $22.95/person.
K Rico is owned and operated by brothers John Philip and Tommy Greco, both veterans of the hospitality industry. John, K Rico's executive chef, shares the same responsibilities at his beloved Greenwich Village eatery Philip Marie, serving the ultimate in American cuisine with a "farm to table" sensibility. Tommy is the co-owner of the Ritz Bar and Lounge on W. 46th Street, voted one of the best by the Village Voice and Get Out magazine.
Excellence is on the menu at K Rico. Only Grade A USDA Prime beef is served that is cut to order at the venue then slowly wet and dry aged with a tantalizing array of herbs and spices. The brothers procured an authentic, state-of-the-art "plancha" grill and broiler that first sears the meat at temperatures up to 1600 degrees, locking in the flavor, followed by slowly broiling it to perfection.
Among the many cuts of choice meat served at K Rico is the popular Tomahawk -- a 4.5 pound Porterhouse steak that easily serves two for $95. Another delightful entree for sharing is La Parrillada Mixta for $62: a bountiful selection of skirt steak, linguiça, pork belly, pork tenderloin and blood sausage.
Living up to its South American roots, the restaurant offers a wide selection of South of the Border side dishes, including sauteed yucca, Chaufa de quinoa with figs, and Maduros-crispy sweet plantains.
"It's been a life-long dream to open this style of restaurant, celebrating the South American culture and cuisine," explains co-owner John Greco. Adds brother Tommy,"My brother John and I traveled extensively throughout the region, taking back with us a wealth of knowledge about the food and drink."
That itinerant knowledge not only translates to the food and how it is prepared, but to the bar, stocked with a premium selection of mescals, tequilas and piscos from South America. On any given afternoon or night, one can find the elegantly appointed front of the restaurant packed with clientele sampling drinks from the excellent original cocktail menu or savoring the new bar menu.
K Rico is open for lunch & dinner Tuesdays through Sundays; for weekend brunch from 10am-4pm at 772 Ninth Avenue between 51st and 52nd Streets. The phone number for reservations is 212-757-9393. Reservations are also available via the restaurant's site at http://www.kriconyc.com
