Kalitta Motorsports NHRA Crew Chief, Author Jim Oberhofer Exceeds Donation in American Cancer Society “Real Men Wear Pink” Campaign
Ypsilanti, Michigan (PRWEB) October 12, 2017 -- Kalitta Motorsports Vice President of Operations and NHRA Crew Chief Jim Oberhofer is doing everything he can to kick cancer to the curb. As a representative of American Cancer Society’s “Real Men Wear Pink” Campaign of Detriot, he has exceeded the original goal of $2,500 by raising almost $4,400 in less than 24 hours.
"It has been so very cool to see the support that I have received from the NHRA Drag Racing community in this fight against breast cancer,” he said. “Hopefully, we can keep this momentum going and make a difference!"
The society’s campaign was created with the goal of encouraging men to become more involved in the fight against breast cancer which is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women behind lung cancer. The monies raised from the campaign will go toward research, prevention and other methods of support for those who are battle breast cancer.
Battling cancer has been a personal mission for Oberhofer. In 2012, his wife Tammy, lovingly known as “Tammy O.,”was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer and died from it in 2013. Jim Oberhofer presents his personal story, the life he shared with Tammy O. and life lessons in his book “Top Fuel for Life.”
