KALLISTA Taper® By Bjarke Ingels Wins iF DESIGN AWARD 2018
KOHLER, Wis. (PRWEB) February 08, 2018 -- KALLISTA, a leading designer and provider of luxury kitchen and bath products has announced that the KALLISTA Taper by Bjarke Ingels is the recipient of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2018. Germany-based iF International Forum Design GmbH organizes one of the world’s most celebrated design competitions. Renowned for showcasing global design excellence, the iF DESIGN AWARD is now in its 65th year and welcomes over 5,000 submissions from 70 countries each year. In 2018, there was representation by 54 different countries, with 6,401 entries all total submitted by 2,955 participants. This juried award is presided over by 63 independent international experts, who over a two day span, selected 1,218 iF award winners from seven different disciplines: Product Design, Communication Design, Packaging Design, Service Design/UX, Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Professional Concept.
KALLISTA entered Taper by Bjarke Ingels, its highly successful sink faucet design that has enjoyed numerous accolades and awards since its launch in 2015. The Taper Sink Faucet marries advanced engineering with the sleekly shape of a cone transitioning outward into a cylinder and are deeply rooted in the principles of classic Mid-Century Danish design. “The sculpted shape of Taper translates from the geometry of the pipe and sculpts the flow of water to the hands or body,” explained Ingels.
The signature cone-to-cylinder design represents a paring down of the form to its most elemental components. The faucet has an austere, forward-leaning profile, and a 90-degree bend in the faucets and lever handles slyly references the stark geometry of the pipes behind the walls. The faucet spout is designed with a spout tip that is uniquely flush with the faucet; the aerator is in the base where it can’t be seen by the user. Taper meets the flow, force and coverage mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency to be WaterSense® listed with a 1.5 gpm laminar flow aerator.
