Kaplan International Collaborates with Dictionary.com to Create New Infographic
(PRWEB UK) 2 July 2013 -- Kaplan International Colleges has teamed up with Dictionary.com to create an infographic that will delight both linguaphiles and English language learners.
Kaplan, a leading provider of English language courses, and Dictionary.com, the world’s largest and most authoritative free online dictionary, have collaborated to produce the brand new Words with Multiple Meanings infographic.
The graphic displays the top ten English words with the most definitions in the dictionary, and how they are used, in a visually striking way that will appeal to learners and lovers of the English language.
Martin Hofschroer, Content Strategist at Kaplan International Colleges, said: “We are delighted to add this to Kaplan’s growing portfolio of popular infographics. Kaplan is dedicated to regularly producing fun and shareable content that is of value to the English learning community.”
This is the first time that Kaplan has collaborated with another company to create an infographic. Kaplan chose to work with Dictionary.com because they are an interactive and reliable online source for word meaning and usage.
“The English language is rich with polysemy, or diversity of meaning. Many common words are popular precisely because they're versatile. One can run a business or a marathon, run into an old friend or run out of time. Stockings run, but you can also run for mayor.
“At Dictionary.com, we transform these polysemous words into clear definitions with additional examples for tricky senses. Whether your search is simple or complex, Dictionary.com distills the answer,” said Rebekah Otto, Content Manager, Dictionary.com.
As well as educational infographics, Kaplan also produces fun illustrations, which inform English learners about quirky aspects of the language such as homophones, homographs and idioms.
