Karen Salkin Talks with Per Wickstrom at the 2015 EcoLuxe Lounge and the "Salute to the Oscars" Celebration
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) April 24, 2015 -- On February 21st, 2015, Per Wickstrom had the pleasure of sitting down in an interview with ItsNotAboutMe.TV contributor Karen Salkin at Durkin Entertainment’s EcoLuxe Lounge, sponsored by Choice Recovery, a holistic treatment center for addiction, of which Wickstrom is the founder. Making appearances at several awards ceremonies and festivals throughout the year, the EcoLuxe Lounge is a gathering of some of the world’s top providers of eco-friendly and socially conscious products and services. Among the many roles that she has fulfilled in her lifetime, Karen has also been a club promoter at one time, which has given her a distinct advantage of the substance abuse issues that run rampant in the entertainment industry.
“I am proof that you can have a great time without (drugs and drinking), and probably a much better time,” Karen told Per and AMP Radio’s Chris Booker, who was hosting the Choices Recovery Celebrity Interview Lounge. “I was a club promoter a few years ago, great DJs, great people, but the end of the night was so disgusting to me, because everyone was drunk. I’m telling you, it’s just no good. The next day they’d call like ‘what happened?’. I just don’t see the attraction in being out of it and throwing up and not knowing what happened the next day.”
Held in the Stardust Penthouse on the rooftop of the luxurious Beverly Hilton Hotel overlooking the impressive Los Angeles skyline, the EcoLuxe Lounge and the “Salute to the Oscars Celebration” was organized by Debbie Durkin, LA’s leading producer of sustainable product placement in TV and film. Durkin Entertainment hosts many red carpet and green room events around the country to promote healthy, organic and holistic alternatives to everyday products and services. As a provider of holistic therapy methods in the treatment of substance abuse, Choices Recovery made a unique addition to the other service providers that were featured that day.
“We wanted to bring the awareness up here in LA,” Per commented about sponsoring these functions that day, “that addiction is in our lives, and everybody’s got to look at it and we’ve got to find a solution. It was really neat that we had the ability to talk about Choices, that we give people a choice in their recovery and we don’t lock them down into one type or modality (of treatment).”
