Ken Fields Joins In The Chorus Of People Calling For Donald Trump To Release His Tax Returns
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 17, 2016 -- This past weekend, the New York Times published a report detailing an investigation into possible payments that had been made or were designated to be paid to Paul Manafort by pro-Russian leaders within the Ukraine for political consultancy work. In the wake of the report, independent candidate and businessman Ken Fields lends his voice to the rapidly growing demand by the media and the public for Trump to release his tax returns. Trump has, to date, refused to do so, causing many to suggest he has something to hide.
“Best case scenario we have to assume that he just doesn’t pay any taxes, other than that there’s a good chance that we, all of us, the American public, would finally be able to get a better determination of what Trump’s net worth might be. Neither of these revelations would be particularly shocking at this point.” Fields continued, “More important than how much money he’s got, or doesn’t have, or what his tax rate is, I think the American public needs to know who he’s doing business with?”
While not a requirement of running for office almost every presidential nominee since 1976 has released their tax returns for public scrutiny. There’s only a certain amount of information that can be learned from a tax return, but more than anything it is seen as an act of our public officials offering a bit of personal transparency. Last week, Hillary Clinton released her tax returns which, as public servants, the Clintons have done since 1977.
Fields concluded by stating “I think at this point even with such a tentative connection to Russia and the Kremlin the public has to question whether or not there is any conflict of interest that Trump’s tax return might show and his failure to make them public could very well be a matter of National Security.”
