Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative Selects Knovation to Aid Digital Conversion
CINCINNATI (PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- School districts moving from print to digital learning require trusted solutions for finding and organizing Open Educational Resources (OER) while supporting their established curriculum. With the help of the Race to the Top District (RTTD) Grant, Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative (KVEC), a non-profit educational support agency comprised of 19 LEAs that provide services to member district schools in Eastern Kentucky, has selected Knovation, the leader in advanced personalized learning solutions, to support and guide its conversion to digital content. Beginning in January 2015, KVEC will use the learning engagement solution, icurio, to foster modern, digital learning initiatives across multiple school districts.
Using Knovation’s industry-leading resource library comprised of more than 360,000 OER, icurio will facilitate KVEC’s digital conversion through hand-selected, contextualized content. With icurio, the Eastern Kentucky school districts can deliver quality, standards-aligned resources that are relevant to each grade, subject area and learner.
“Strong and reliable instructional content is vital to the success of our digital conversion,” said Dr. Jeff Hawkins, KVEC Executive Director. “icurio’s ability to deliver targeted online resources and tools and organize them around the curriculum, combined with Knovation’s professional learning services, enables our students and teachers to confidently move toward developing a blended learning environment designed to make all our students Future Ready.”
KVEC’s partnership with Knovation and use of icurio was made possible through the https://www..ed.gov/programs/racetothetop-district/2012/finalists/kentuckyvalleyeducationalcooperativeky.pdf [RTTD Grant __title__ ], which aims to improve personalized learning with best practices that school districts across the county can learn from and implement. In 2014, KVEC and 17 school districts in southeastern Kentucky received the $30 million, four-year grant to benefit 2,600 educators and 44,000 students across more than 100 schools. The consortium was selected for the competitive award based on their commitment and readiness to provide students with high quality education and engage in innovative strategies to drive academic achievement, increase graduation rates and improve college and career success.
Through the RTTD Grant, KVEC developed the Appalachian Renaissance Initiative, a vision that fosters personalized learning environments, next generation classrooms, accessible data system, effective teachers and leaders and college- and career-readiness.
“With the help of the Race to the Top District Grant, KVEC will positively impact students and educators during their digital journey,” said Randy Wilhelm, CEO of Knovation. “icurio allows districts to use technology to effectively implement the best digital content and meet individual learning needs.”
Knovation will host educators from schools across participating KVEC districts for two days of in-depth professional learning January 21-22, along with additional embedded professional learning opportunities well into the future.
